Rotary regional 4-way winner

Patton eighth grader wins final round of Rotary Four-Way Speech contest
Posted on 05/21/2018

Patton eighth grader Kaylee Keikkala won first place in Rotary’s Four-Way Speech regional competition last weekend. The regional contest is the highest level of the competition.

Kaylee’s speech won first place at the local level in the McMinnville Noon Rotary, which qualified her for the regional competition.  Her speech was about bullying and the responsibility of friendship.

The Four-Way competition follows the test of things people think, say or do:

First:  Is it the truth?

Second:  Is it fair to all concerned?

Third:  Will it build good will and better friendships?

Fourth: Will it be beneficial to all concerned.

Every year McMinnville Rotary hosts the Four-Way Speech contest with local middle schoolers. Students deliver their speeches and are judged by club members. The winner at the city level moves on to compete regionally.

Competing against other local level winners, Kaylee came out on top and won a $500 prize.

Congratulations, Kaylee!
