Peace Village summer camp registration open

The inaugural McMinnville Peace Village, a summer day camp which teaches children specific tools to build understanding and create peace within themselves and within their communities will be held in Monday through Friday, August 14 – 18. The camp, offered to third through eighth graders, will be held from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum.

Sponsored by the Rotary Clubs of McMinnville, the camp curriculum will focus on four main tenets: conflict prevention/resolution, mindfulness, connection to nature and media literacy.

Music, art and dance will be integrated into the curriculum which will also include participation from speakers throughout the globe and other youth groups from Africa, India and the Americas.

The cost for the weeklong event is $135 and includes breakfast and lunch daily, t-shirts and water bottles and snacks. Scholarships are available. 

Student community service opportunities are also available for high school students interested in volunteering with a completed background check.
