MHS
Athletic Director Mark Hinthorn is the latest McMinnville School
District staff member to win a state award for educational excellence.
He was named the Oregon recipient of the National Federation of High School’s Spirit of the Sport Award

The award recognizes exceptional educators in student athletics. He was nominated by the Oregon School Activities Association.

Mark is in the running for the regional award, which will be announced at the end of February.

The following is an excerpt from the OSAA letter announcing the award:

You were nominated by the OSAA to be the recipient of the NFHS Spirit
of the Sport Award for the work you do at your school, in your
community and with Special Olympics. Let me be the first to congratulate
you on being selected as Oregon’s choice to move on to the next phase
of this award. In the next step, a Section 8 winner will be selected to
be considered for the National Spirit of the Sport Award. Section 8
includes Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. The
Section 8 winner will be selected at the end of February.

This is a great honor to be chosen as Oregon’s nomination for this
award. Thank you for everything you do for your students, staff, and
community. I will be in touch as the process continues. Again,
CONGRATULATIONS!

Marci McGillivray, Associate Director
