MINUTES OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF DISTRICT NO. 40,
YAMHILL COUNTY, McMINNVILLE, OREGON
The Work Session was held May 23, 2022, both in person and via Zoom at the
McMinnville School District Office, 800 NE Lafayette Ave., McMinnville OR 97128

At 7:30 p.m. the Board of Directors of McMinnville School District opened the work session meeting. The meeting was called to order by Chair Carson Benner. Roll call indicated the following:

AUDIENCE: Kevin Carroll, Luke Neff, Samantha Nelson, Amy Fast, Brian Crain, Steffanie Frost, and Kourtney Ferrua.
Amy Fast gave an overview of the 2022 Graduation Ceremony and shared upcoming events happening at the high school.
Janis Braich asked if the Board members would be taking turns shaking the students hands and handing out the diplomas. Amy Fast will email the information to the Board.
Superintendent Brockett reported the date and times of the upcoming 5th grade promotions and middle school drive through promotions. She would like to have one representative at each of the promotions. Superintendent Brockett will attend promotions if a representative is not able to attend. Principal Fast gave the overview for the high school.
We will be recognizing retirees on June 13, 2022 at 5:30 p.m. before the board meeting. The retirees will be formally recognized at the board meeting.

Larry Vollmer did not have a comment.
Janis Braich shared a picture that the fourth and fifth grade leadership team from Wascher ES came up with. They are doing diversity and equity in the school. They had cut out dolls, they were dressed intricately and a lot of them did ethnicity and whatever country they were from.
Abbie Warmbier said she went out for a couple of hours but Janis went on field trips for six days straight and was in the pond with kids scooping up insects and salamanders. It was really fun to be there with the kids. She gave a kudo to Janis.
Dr. Paul Haddeland said Kevin Carroll’s presentation was well done and informative. He is doing a really good job over the special education. He appreciates him for doing that.
Chair Carson Benner shared he had the opportunity to be a judge at the science fair at the high school. The young adults were just phenomenal. The older senior kids, the projects they are doing are inspirational. The students were so impressive; it was really inspirational. He gave a kudo to the fabulous teachers.
