Patton’s Emily Wilcox honored
Congratulations to Patton Middle School’s Emily Wilcox, who was named 2021 Outstanding Educator of the Year as part of the McMinnville Distinguished Service Awards.
Educators are nominated by licensed and classified staff for the Distinguished Service Award to recognize their contribution to their school and the district, excellence in teaching, leadership, volunteer efforts and other accomplishments.
The award reflects Wilcox’s reach into the Patton community. She is the drama teacher and interacts with the vast majority of the school population through the elective rotation. She produces at least two live performances per year, directing a variety of students, and sews costumes, makes sets and organizes fundraisers. She has also been the adviser for the Thespian Club, led Leadership classes and helped coordinate advisory activities. She organizes school assemblies and has created the 8th grade slideshow/video for 8th grade promotion, among other activities.
Wilcox has been working in the district since 2007.
She was recognized at McMinnville’s Distinguished Service Awards banquet last week at The Bindery.
