Patton students visited the School Board meeting last night to share information about the WEB (Where Everyone Belongs) Leadership project at the middle school. WEB leaders showed photos and explained the project that’s intended to help sixth graders feel connected to the school community throughout the year.
The more than 50 WEB Leaders each have a group of about 10 sixth graders and engage with the students through a special orientation on the first day of school, an annual movie night and a team-building field trip to see an Oregon State women’s basketball game.
The students also talked about a new aspect to the project called WEB Alerts, which helps pinpoint students who seem troubled and guides them toward a teacher or counselor who can help.
Introduced by principal Brian Crain, the eighth grade students (from left) Evan Ewing, Macie Morris-Arias, Annie Clayton, Jayson (TJ) Jarvis, Kalysta Martino and Ben Friend, were joined at the board meeting by Patton teachers Shane Fox, Jeremy Wilson and Jennifer Sipprell.
