The annual Santa Claus Project, a partnership with McMinnville’s Noon Rotary, took place on Friday, December 11.  Students were selected from every elementary school in the district, 24 students in all, and were treated to a holiday shopping trip for clothes, toys and gifts for their families.

Rotary volunteers helped each student with their shopping lists and assisted with keeping a running tally to stay within the $100 gift card that was provided by Rotary for each student.

“This is such a fun event made possible by the Rotary,” said Kyra Donovan, director of Elementary Education for the McMinnville School District.  “Not only do these students get a bit of holiday cheer, but there are also some real-life learning opportunities in math and financial literacy, too.”

The students were chosen by school staff and supervised during the outing by their principal or school counselor.
