At 6:30 p.m., the Board of Directors of McMinnville School District opened the board business meeting in Regular Session. The meeting was called to order by Vice-Chair Dr. Paul Haddeland.

1.4 Introductions and Communications
Superintendent Brockett Introduced Lauren Berg who was hired for the CIA Secondary Program Administrator position. Laure was the previous Principal at Wascher ES. She also introduced Scott Murphy as the new Principal of Wascher ES. Scott Murphy shared some background information about himself and stated he is happy to be here.
Superintendent Brockett announced that Jack Crabtree had passed away and she wanted to take a moment to recognize all he has done for the community and the school district.

2.0 Consent Agenda
2.1 Gifts to the District
The Board accepted with gratitude, gifts to the District: Carol Harris donated $1000.00 to MHS for SkillsUSA Nationals, Hyder Family Dentistry, LLC donated $1500.00 to MHS for the athletics program and $375.00 for OSAA playoff tickets, Sunrise Rotary Foundations of McMinnville, Inc. donated $750.00 to MHS for the Joe Dancer Project for the art club, Sharron Hansen donated $100.00 to MHS for the welding club, Marianne Mills donated to MHS $250.00 for the welding club, Dennis Jarvis donated sewing supplies to MHS worth $500.00 for the clothing workshop classes, Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde donated $200.00 to MHS for a cheer deposit for Kihya Bailey, Jack Boersma donated quilters cotton worth $612.00 to MHS for the clothing workshop classes, and Weeks Construction, Inc. donated $366.00 for OSAA playoff tickets.
2.2 Approval of minutes of the July 11, 2022 Business Board meeting approved.
2.3 Personnel Actions approved.
On motion by Janis Braich, seconded by Gerardo Partida, the Consent Agenda was approved on a unanimous vote.
3.0 REPORTS
The Board heard Monthly Reports.
3.1 Superintendent’s Report
Superintendent Brockett reported that Brian Crain is leading the committee with an outside consultant for the renaming of Columbus ES. They will be looking at all schools as well. She shared awards won by Starla Pointer; she thanked her and congratulated her for her hard work she does for the school district.
She shared that staffing is at 97%; all but 18 positions are left unfilled. She thanked the Human Resources Department and the Principals.
She announced that the district will be looking at every staff member for the retention/recruitment bonuses in September and December. Pre-K numbers have gone up and we can keep staff at all five elementary schools. Kindergarten numbers are still low.
HR has a process for volunteers to submit a vaccine exemption form for those parents who wish to volunteer in the schools.
3.2 Director of Fiscal Services Report
Samantha Nelson shared a presentation showing the number of students for each quarter for 2021-22 school year. She stated that the numbers will be more accurate when she works with the school secretaries; this is how funding is calculated. We have 6,329 students in school on any given day. She shared the preliminary budget for the period ending June 30, 2022.
3.3 Director of Operations
Brian Crain reported on updates for the Patton MS seismic project. They are on time and ahead of schedule. He shared photos of projects that are happening for each building in the district and explained the work that is being done.
Jason Bizon stated that people had been reaching out asking how they could help. He congratulated Brian Crain and stated the campuses were clean and well organized. Well done.
Dr. Paul Haddeland asked about the trees at Memorial ES.
Brain Crain said the trees were diseased and blew down. The trees have been removed. In March the plan is to replant approved trees from the City of McMinnville
4.0 New Business
4.1 Update Authorized Signatures
Samantha Nelson presented for approval the updated check signing authorization form to the Board.
On motion by Jason Bizon, seconded by Abbie Warmbier, the motion passed unanimously to approve the updates for the check signing authorization form.
5.0 Public Testimony:
We did not receive any public testimony.
6.0 Board Directors Comments
Jason Bizon stated that we are close to getting kids back in schools. He appreciates the City Council for working on access to our properties and keeping the lines of communication with them and getting kids to school safely.
Larry Vollmer thanked MSD for their kind words for Jack Crabtree; it is sad and he hopes for peace and healing for his family. He thanked his wife Heidi for taking care of things at home; this allows him to be here.
Abbie Warmbier stated she is reflecting on the difference from last year. Staff looks refreshed and she is looking forward to a normal year.
Janis Braich welcomed Scott Murphy. She thanked Steffanie Frost and congratulated her.
Dr. Paul Haddeland stated he loves when construction is on time and done within budget. He congratulated Brain Crain on the work being done.
Gerardo Partida said Jack Crabtree was the first person he met when he moved to McMinnville. He congratulated Starla Pointer. He hopes this school year will be better for the staff and we have everything we need.
