McMinnville High School (MHS) sent one of the largest delegations in the state to the Oregon Model United Nations (MUN) Conference, which was held April 7 – 9 in Eugene. MHS sent 64 delegates representing nine different countries. The conference included nearly 1,500 students from around the state who debate and try to resolve the most pressing global issues through committee work, discussion and resolution writing.
Junior Megan DeYoung was voted Best Defender of Country Policy in her economics committee, which focused on the topic “UN/International Bailouts.”
“This is an extremely impressive award considering the size of the committee and the caliber of student who attends this conference,” said MUN adviser Erin Brisbane. “Year after year, the students represent McMinnville High School very well and are respected by the other schools for their preparedness.”
Junior Kyle Dauterman was also recognized by his committee chair for his work in drafting a resolution during a crisis simulation.
