Over spring break, students who are a part of the McMinnville Drama Program at McMinnville High School and Patton Middle School visited New York City. While there, students and parents participated in four full days of theater-related activities including:

  • An audition workshop taught by Broadway professionals
  • Touring Theatres around Times Square
  • A tour of Radio City Music Hall including backstage
  • Three Broadway shows starring well-known actors and musicians, including Wayne Brady, Kirstin Maldonado, Bernadette Peters, and Victor Garber.

Students and parent chaperones also explored the city by subway, ate dinner at the famous Hard Rock Cafe, visited the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, participated in a movie location scavenger hunt in Central Park, and much more.

“This was such a valuable educational experience for students who may be thinking of going into theater as a profession later in life,” said Patton drama teacher Emily Wilcox, who organized the trip. “There’s nothing like seeing the work first-hand and visiting where so much of it takes place.”
