
McMinnville High School teacher Susanne Sayles has been named Outstanding Young Educator by McMinnville’s Distinguished Service Awards. The designation will be officially bestowed at tonight’s banquet at the McMinnville Ballroom.

Sayles was selected by her peers for her work to improve school climate at the high school. Sayles teaches Language Arts and AVID and is also in charge of Leadership students and has been instrumental in student recognitions, Homecoming, Unity Week and more.
In addition to the Outstanding Young Educator honor, the Distinguished Service Awards will recognize others who have made a positive impact on the community, including
Doug Hurl, Man of the Year
Debbie Harmon Ferry, Woman of the Year
Jen Feero, part owner of La Bella Casa and a realtor with Willamette West, Junior Citizen
Erica and Josh FitzGerald of FitzGerald Farms, where they raise and train horses, Outstanding Farmers
Bill Mass, retired MHS Math teacher, was the first to receive the Outstanding Young Educator award in 1974. In 2017, high school history teacher Kelly Carlson was celebrated.
