Text messages from school will come from 10-digit phone numbers

ParentSquare is changing how text messages are identified. Coming soon are text messages that use a local 10-digit phone number to identify messages that come from schools. There will be different numbers for direct messages, class/group texts and schoolwide messages.

Districtwide posts, district group messages, alerts and digests will continue to come from the five-digit short code that is used now for all messages.

The first time you get a text from one of the new numbers, you will get a short message that says who the message is from and suggests adding it into your contacts so you know who is texting.

For example, the first time you get a direct message from your child’s teacher, it will say, ParentSquare messages from R. Turner will come from this number. Save it so you know who’s texting.  The intro message will be followed by the actual message.

This change is being made to help families organize their messages better and also to messages from being flagged as spam.
