The letter below from elementary principals is being mailed to families this week.

Dear Families,

Thank you for your continued support of and partnership with McMinnville School District. Our students will begin the school year in Comprehensive Distance Learning (CDL), based on state guidance about COVID-19. We were fortunate to receive parent feedback over the summer months that will help us improve our delivery of CDL this fall. In this letter, you will find information to help you prepare for the upcoming school year.

Daily Schedules, Attendance, Grades and Meal Service:

School starts September 14 in our Comprehensive Distance (online) Learning format! The Student Daily Schedule(provided during orientation) for elementary students is 8 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., Monday – Friday.  Your child should be awake and ready to access learning at 8 a.m.

During distance learning, attendance and participation of all students is required. Daily attendance will be taken and students will be graded on their work, just as they would be graded if they were physically in school.

Grab and Go Meal Service will begin again on September 14. Daily meals will be 11:30 am – noon in front of all elementary schools and at select bus stops.

Students that qualify for the district’s English Learner Program (EL) will be contacted by their student’s EL teacher regarding English language assessments and program services offered during the school year.

Students with disabilities (students who have an Individualized Education Program or a Section 504 Accommodation Plan) can expect the case manager/teacher to contact them to discuss special education services or Section 504 accommodations, and what those will look like during Comprehensive Distance Learning. The case manager/teacher will also review any assessments, meetings, etc. that were postponed due to the state-wide school closure and those that are coming due this school year. Please check the McMinnville School District website (under Student Services department) for future updates.
