Be College Ready

The McMinnville School District was one of original five districts across Oregon to pilot the Be College Ready outreach program. The program is designed to help families prepare for the financial realities of education after high school and show them the advantages of opening an Oregon Savings Plan.

Local elementary students receive bookmarks, folders and pencils to help them start envisioning an education plan for after high school. That education can be a four-year university or college, a two-year college, graduate school or trade school.

Other programs include:

• Open an account before your child’s first birthday and receive an automatic $25 contribution with the Baby Grad program.

   

• Open an Oregon College Savings Plan account for your kindergartner and get an extra, automatic $25 contribution with our Kinder Grad program.

   

• Enter to win the Smart Start Sweepstakes. You could be one of 25 families to win $100 in an Oregon College Savings Plan account! Sweepstakes ends September 26, 2022.

   

• When you return your cans and bottles with BottleDrop, you can put those savings toward your kid’s future. Transfer your deposits to your Oregon College Savings Plan or Oregon ABLE Savings Plan account, and save for whatever their future holds.

   

• Partnering universities (including Linfield) want to reward your dedicated savings by offering additional cost savings when attending their schools through the Oregon Scholars program.

   

• The Diversity in Leadership scholarship (multi-year up to $25,000) was created for underrepresented and diverse Oregon high school graduates pursuing higher education in Oregon.

   

• The Oregon ABLE Savings Plan is a tax-advantaged, state-sponsored investment account for people with eligible disabilities.
