Join us for a Community Budget Conversation on Tuesday, March 10 at 6:00 p.m. at McMinnville High School. The presentation will be available in English and Spanish.
The McMinnville School District Board of Directors interviewed four candidates for three open positions on the Budget Committee at the February 23 Work Session. The district’s Budget Committee is made up of School Board members and appointed community members who provide oversight, ask questions, and ensure the proposed budget reflects community priorities and long term financial stability. Following Budget Committee review and approval, the budget is presented to the School Board for consideration and formal adoption.
The Board will vote on which candidates to appoint to the Budget Committee at its March 9, 2026 Business Meeting.
McMinnville School District is currently in the analysis and planning phase of developing the 2026–27 budget. The district is responding to declining enrollment and funding uncertainty, which together are creating a projected budget shortfall for the coming school year. At this stage, staff are reviewing enrollment projections, staffing levels, program needs, and anticipated state funding while working to identify options that minimize impacts to students. No final decisions have been made regarding reductions, staffing changes, or schedule structures. Some decisions will come sooner due to required timelines, while others will take additional time as information becomes clearer, particularly related to state funding. The district remains committed to sharing updates as soon as information is reliable and confirmed.
