Some students may require a higher level of support through one of our district specialized programs. These programs are located in buildings throughout the district, and provide services to students who exhibit unique needs that impede their progress on IEP goals and cannot be addressed in the Resource Room setting through modifications or accommodations. The inclusion of students in the general education setting is facilitated for students based on the student’s IEP.
Special Programs
The Special Programs Classrooms are highly structured settings for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade who have significant developmental needs in the areas of functional communication, emotional regulation, functional academics, sensory, and independence and self-care. Students attend these programs at their resident school, and can access the general education classroom with support when possible.
LRC2 Classrooms
The LRC2 classrooms are highly structured settings for students in 6th through 8th grade who have significant developmental needs in the areas of communication, behavior, emotional regulation, academics, sensory, and independence. Students attend these programs at their resident school, and can access the general education classroom with support.
Life Skills
The Life Skills program is a highly structured specialized program for students in grades 6th through 12th who have significant developmental needs in the areas of functional communication, behavior, functional academics, and independence and self-care. Life Skills programs are located in both middle schools and the high school. Students transition into Life Skills from the elementary Specialized Programs. Life Skills utilizes a modified curriculum to support the functional academic and adaptive skills of students.
EGC
The Emotional Growth Center (EGC) is a specialized program providing structure and a wide array of positive interventions to students whose severe behavioral, emotional and social concerns prevent them from successfully accessing the curriculum in a less restrictive school setting. Students in this program have not responded to interventions and support in a less restrictive school setting, and continue to face challenges with emotional regulation and behavior. This program has support embedded to address lagging skills with self-regulation and interpersonal relationships. There is one EGC classroom at each level. These classrooms are currently housed at Sue Buel Elementary, Patton Middle School and McMinnville High School.
CTP
The Community Transition Program (CTP) is a specialized program for students ages 18-21 who have graduated with a non-standard diploma. Students engage in classroom instruction and community opportunities with a focus on vocational and life skills.
