School Media Specialists discuss lessons on digital literacy
MSD Media Specialists will present a session on how digital literacy is taught in district schools. Students from elementary through high school learn how to make good media decisions by asking questions about where the information they find online comes from. Is the information source reliable? Is it trustworthy? Is it gossip, opinion or marketing?
This critical thinking skill is taught based on the age level of the students. Elementary librarian Maureen Tracy will cover how this is taught in the lower grades while middle school librarian Heidi Sumner and high school librarian Lori McGreal talk about teaching the tweens and teens.
The presentation will be in-person at the Family Resource Center and via Zoom.
