Daphne Riddle and Jason Kiff (top, right) have qualified to complete
in the Statewide Spelling Championship at the Oregon State Fair on Sept.
5, 2015. Daphne will represent Yamhill County in the Division I
category (Grades 1-5) and Jason will represent Yamhill County in the
Division III category (Grades 9-12). Both Daphne and Jason scored first
place at the Yamhill County Spelling Competition in their respective
divisions.
Scott Winkenweder (bottom, left) has qualified as an alternate
competitor to represent Yamhill County in the Division II category
(grades 6-8). Scott scored second place at the Yamhill County Spelling
Competition in his division.
Oregon Spellers, an
all-volunteer entity, hosts spelling contests and qualifies students
from each county to advance to the Statewide Spelling Championships.
