Congratulations to Memorial fifth grade student, Colton Anderson, whose essay, “Frog Lake,” was chosen to be published in the 2017-2018 Oregon Blue Book

Colton attended the book release today at the Oregon Capitol and received a signed copy of the book from Oregon Secretary of State Dennis Richardson. The secretary noted that Colton’s essay has now become part of the historical record of Oregon. Colton also participated in an autograph session for the public, signing his essay for book buyers.

Colton also received a framed copy of his essay, along with the cover of the Blue Book.  Colton, and his family and teacher Maggie Harlow, were treated to a tour of the Capitol before Colton was recognized for his achievement on both the House and Senate floors.

Colton’s essay was about snowshoeing up to Frog Lake near Mt. Hood and playing hockey on the frozen lake.

The submission was part of the annual Oregon Elementary School Essay Contest.
