McMinnville High School AP Visual Arts and Advanced Ceramics students kick off their annual art showcase at a free reception on Monday, April 24 at 5 p.m. at Linfield College’s Lou Gallery.

The juniors and seniors have been working all year on a 24-piece portfolio of their best work, ranging from abstract painting, paper-cut portraiture, cubist collage, hand-built ceramic elephants, and more traditional vases or drawings.

“The portfolios are intended to demonstrate these artists’ ‘voice, verve and experimentation’,” said MHS Visual Arts teacher Christine Garrison. “I may be biased, but I think we have some incredible artists.”

The show will run through May 1 at the college gallery, which is located in the James F. Miller Fine Arts Center on the Linfield College campus. (To
reach the gallery from 99W, turn east on Keck Drive at the McMinnville
Market Center in south McMinnville. Turn right at the first street onto
Library Court. The art gallery is located in the first building on the
left, Building A.)
