Ninth and Tenth Grade Families Invited for Thursday, April 6
McMinnville High School is offering a fun evening for ninth and tenth grade students and their families to enjoy some coding games and activities together and also learn about the Computer Science (CS) Pathway and future careers.
Families will rotate between four stations and topics:
- Discover a Career in CS – Watch videos about CS as a career; explore on websites, such as Indeed, to find jobs in CS; compare related salaries to other positions.
- Edison Robotics Station – Use EdScratch programming with Edison Robots; explore pre-written programs and learn how to download them and move robots; practice how to make adjustments to the pre-written code and change your robot.
- Scratch Programming Station – Use pre-written programs in Scratch and challenge yourself to make adjustments to create other noises and movement; play Rock Paper, Scissors and other games created by our CS students.
- CS Pathway Classes at MHS – Review a list of courses available at MHS; learn about the outcome of the CS Pathway, including College Credit Now options, programs at Chemeketa that are transferable to 4-year programs, and tech languages students are studying, to tie the whole evening together so you can see where you start and where you can finish!
Join us on Thursday, April 6, from 6 – 7:30 p.m. in the MHS Food Court.
