Members of McMinnville High School (MHS)’s Thespian Society Troupe attended the Northwest Regional Thespian Competition in early February.  The event was hosted at Wilson High School in Portland.

Under the direction of troupe director, Bethany Mason, and club president, Chandler Simenson, 17 Thespians represented MHS in a variety of nine events including Comedic Duo Novice, Dramatic Duo Novice, Comedic Duo Experienced, Experienced Solo, Novice Solo, Pantomime, Musical Solo, Musical Duet and Sound Design.

Juniors Juan Perez and Edwin Andalon took first place in their category winning the “Showcase Qualifier” ribbon.  The honor allows the duo to audition for the State Competition in April, which will be held in Salem.

“This is the first year in over a decade that MHS has chartered a Thespian Troupe,” said Mason.  “I’m so proud of the winning duo and of all the students who prepared and competed.”
