Community members turned out on Saturday, September 23, to attend a district Open House of newly upgraded district schools and facilities.

Open locations included Cook Campus, McMinnville High School and its new Career Technical Center (CTC) and field house, Baker Field, Patton and Duniway middle schools, and Columbus, Grandhaven, Newby and Wascher elementary schools, as well as the new Facilities location on Lafayette Avenue.

“We want to thank everyone who attended McMinnville’s Community Open House,” said Superintendent Maryalice Russell. “The turnout was exciting to see, and our staff enjoyed hearing the many stories and memories of Cook School.

“I also heard a lot of visitors shared how impressed they were with the new Career Technical Center at the high school.”

The event ended with refreshments in the high school’s new cafeteria addition.

The Open House wraps up the first phase of construction for the schools bond that passed in May 2016. The second phase of construction focuses on the high school addition and will begin in the spring of 2018.
