February 2 In-service Day
Kourtney Ferrua shared a presentation and flyer with the board on the inservice day. She shared information on the afternoon MSD Ed Camp and mentioned some topics for the sessions. There will be around 400 adults attending, and we try to have around 20 offerings per group so that there is enough for everyone to go and have class sizes around 2. Each session is run by educators for them to learn from one another. The inservice day will replace SIP night. She extended an invitation to all board members.
Integrated Plan Update
Kourtney Ferrua shared a presentation with the board the goals and process for the Integrated Plan. The goal of the Integrated Plan is to take all six programs that have had independent individualized reporting requirements and align them into one comprehensive integrated plan that will be revisited in three years. Right now we are around steps six to eight. The goal is to be at step twelve by the middle of March. There are four goals; we have to articulate how we have met those goals. Goals: 1) Engaged Community, 2) Equity, 3) Well Rounded Education, 4) Strengthen Systems and Capacity. The next steps are completing listening sessions, draft the plan, do a first reading at the February 13 board meeting, share with the steering committee the day after the board meeting, and present to the board for second reading final approval at the March 13 board meeting.
Transportation RFP
Brian Crain shared with the board the Transportation RFP contract. He stated that we entered into our contact in 2013 and it was for five years and it was extended for an additional five years. It has been ten years since they had done the RFP. RFP’s are done every five years and you can do an extension, and we did the extension one time. We believe it is in our best interest to go out for an RFP. We will be advertising this RFP in the Daily Journal of Commerce, and on an electronic procurement website, Oregon Buys. We are asking that all requests be submitted by February, and proposals are due to us by February 21. We will put together a committee to take a look at all proposals. On March 8 a final decision will be made. It will be presented at the March 13 board meeting.
OSBA Superintendent Evaluation
The Board of Directors agreed to evaluate the Superintendent on these three standards:

Directors Comments
Larry Vollmer gave a belated thank you to the classified and licensed staff for the gifts they presented to him for Board Appreciation Month. He also thanked Buel ES for inviting him to participate in their Survival Swim.
Abbie Warmbier expressed condolences for Norm Skibby’s family. She made mention of how two middle school students were using Fentanyl in the school bathroom. She is thankful that the high school has posters up about the dangers of Fentanyl and it is also in the Brockett Bulletin. She went to the MAC Madness Basketball night and it was really fun. The high school marketing team did a good job as well as the boy’s and girl’s teams.
Janis Braich stated it has been fun teaching the second graders science out at Evergreen. She returned the library books to Duniway and she talked with the librarian asking them how they pick the books.
Gerardo Partida gave congratulations on the graduation rate. Everybody is doing a great job. He thanked the school district stating he read an article and most of the schools have issues on enrollment. We are lucky we are still okay. It’s hard for them to come back to their previous enrollment pre-covid.
