July 31, 2023 Summer Board Retreat Minutes

MINUTES OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF DISTRICT NO. 40,
YAMHILL COUNTY, McMINNVILLE, OREGON

The Summer Board Retreat  was held July 31, 2023, in person at the
McMinnville School District Office, 800 NE Lafayette Ave., McMinnville OR 97128 

At 1:00 p.m., the Board of Directors of McMinnville School District opened the Summer Board Retreat meeting.  The meeting was called to order by Chair Jason Bizon.

  Vice-Chair Abbie Warmbier
  Mr. Carson Benner
  Mr. Gerardo Partida
  Ms. Doris Towery
  Mr. Larry Vollmer

  BOARD MEMBERS ABSENT:
  Lu Ann Anderson

  ADMINISTRATION:
  Debbie Brockett, Superintendent

  Summer Highlights and Share Outs were done by each board member and Superintendent Brockett.

  Important information was shared with the board.

  • Important Dates.
  • State and National Conference Information.
  • Adopt a School and other important information was shared.

  Board Governing Policies:
  There is a new legislation regarding board members being able to receive a $500.00 stipend. Policy BHD was discussed and a decision will be determined at a later date.  

  District Updates:
  MAP and Early Literacy Grant – updates were given by Kourtney Ferrua.

  • Dual Language Program Vision – updates were given by Karina Smith.
  • Athletics in MSD – updates were given by Brian Crain.
  • Grow Your Own Grant & Staffing – updates were given by Steffanie Frost.
  • iVision – updates were given by Jason Hall.
  • SIS Plan – updates were given by Superintendent Brockett.
  • SPED Legislation & Safety – updates were given by Shelly Simonyi.

  2023 – 2026 Strategic Plan:
  Goals, Objectives, Scorecard and next steps were reviewed.
