In response to COVID-19, Governor Kate Brown announced last night that schools will be closed to students beginning Monday, March 16. Students will return on Wednesday, April 1.

This closure, based on guidance from public health officials, is intended to use “social distancing” to slow the transmission of COVID-19.

Social distancing includes guidance such as, “While children are home, when at all possible, they should not be in the care of older adults or those with underlying health issues that are most at risk from COVID-19.” This may also mean keeping 3 to 6 feet between people when visiting to minimize the spread of infection.

The McMinnville School Based Health Center (SBHC) will also be closed during this period. Families who need services may access the Sunrise Clinic at the SBHC fee structure, including free services for those who qualify. Families should call the clinic at 503.474.3600 before visiting the location. Find out more about the clinic, hours and recommendations here.

Grab and Go meals will be available to all families beginning Monday, March 16 through Tuesday, March 31. Elementary schools will be distribution sites for lunches between 11:30 a.m. – noon on weekdays during this period.  Meals will be packed to take home and will not be served onsite.

Meals will also be delivered along bus routes at certain stops. Families may use whatever bus stop is most convenient.

All district facilities will be closed to the public during this extended Spring Break. The 30-day state-wide suspension of all school activities will remain in effect until further notice.

We realize this closure is a disruption for families and the community and appreciate your patience as we navigate this challenging time together. We will continue to provide updates in this quickly evolving situation.
