With Q&A on district guidelines
(Spanish) This morning, a group of students led a walkout off the high school campus. Because student safety is paramount, there were administrative team members monitoring the situation, and the McMinnville PD facilitated a safety perimeter.
The high school notified high school families with the following information:
- Safety Off-Campus When students choose to leave school property during the instructional day, they are no longer under the supervision of school personnel. While we do have administrative staff monitoring this at a distance, we cannot guarantee the safety of students who are off campus.
- Attendance We adhere to state and district attendance rules. Students who leave campus during scheduled class time are marked with an unexcused absence for periods they miss.
- Returning to School: We will welcome students back to MHS during the day if they return. If you believe your student is participating and would like them to return to the school, please contact them directly.
Our district has a FAQ related to student protests and walkouts. Thank you for your understanding and partnership as we navigate this dynamic situation while prioritizing the safety and predictability of school routines on campus, as well.
