The townspeople of Zion, Indiana, are searching for something to believe in. As the Great Depression of the 1930s hits and the Dust Bowl begins to spread, the ability to find water (known as divining) becomes a commodity.

Buddy Layman – the boy who is afraid of water –  is, ironically, the one diviner in town who never disappoints. Although Buddy provides a crucial service to the town, he himself is in need of constant care, which taxes the patience of Buddy’s father and sister.

When C.C. Showers, a former preacher determined to give up the profession comes to town, the two form an immediate bond.

“While this play centers on the relationship of these two outsiders, the message of determination and the struggle to find something to cling to seems to strike a chord within our present day culture,” said Drama director Bethany Mason.

Performance dates are March 4, 10, 11 and 12 at 7 p.m. and March 6 at 2 p.m. (note the March 6 date is a change from an earlier date announced for the day prior).

Ticket prices: $8 for adults; $6 for seniors and students.

Note:  The production is a serious PG-rated drama with mild language that may not be suitable for younger children.
