Students from all over the district are attending a music camp at McMinnville High School this week. Budding musicians in grades in grades three through 12 have a chance to explore the ukelele, strings, keyboard, mallots/drumming, voice, guitar or recorder, and fifth through high school students can also try band or jazz improvisation.
“This is a great way for kids to be exposed to a range of music,” said Stephanie Legard, new director of STEAM for the McMinnville School District. “Students can try out instruments, increase their musical understanding and learn to appreciate different forms of music.
The week concludes with a concert in the high school’s Anderson Auditorium at noon on Friday, August 26.
