Student Records

PUBLIC NOTICE

In accordance with federal guidelines, the following procedures concerning student records are
in effect in the McMinnville Public Schools.

This is to inform parents, guardians, or students who are 18 years of age or attending an
institution of post-secondary education, that should a child enroll in another school or school
system, an official transcript or copy of the permanent record will be sent to the school upon our
receipt of notification of the student’s enrolling in said institution. Prior to the withdrawal of your
child from our district, you have a right to review your student’s records.

Should there be any information contained in these records to which you object, you have the
right to request amendments to your child’s educational records.

The following kinds of information will be considered directory information and will be available
for release to newspapers, local merchants, McMinnville Greater Chamber of Commerce, the
armed forces and other appropriate agencies by each school of School District #40: student’s
name and address, telephone number, ID photo, date and place of birth, major field of study,
participation in officially recognized activities and sports, weight and height of members of
athletic teams, dates of attendance, degrees and awards received, and most recent previous
schools attended.

If you do not wish to have the above information released or published relating to your child,
please notify the appropriate school of such a decision in writing within 30 days of this notice.

Students in grades K-12 are provided with access to the district’s electronic communications
network after they have signed a Technology Use Agreement acknowledging the rules
governing the use of computers, network storage, printers and the Internet. Please contact the
school if you have questions about your student’s technology use.
