Appointment makes history
By unanimous vote, Christine Bader was appointed to the McMinnville School Board last night, Monday, Sept. 9. She fills the position vacated by Carson Benner last month, who has held the position 3 at-large position since 2016.
Bader was one of six candidates who applied for the position, and one of three finalists interviewed by the board at the August 26 Work Session. She is an adjunct business professor at Linfield University and the head coach of the Valley Panthers girls rugby club. She has a son and daughter in the district.
After being sworn in, Bader assumed the position immediately. She will serve out Benner’s term, which ends June 30, 2025.
Her appointment marks the first time that the majority of MSD’s board positions have been held by women.
