In December 2020, the McMinnville School District officially launched the formal search process for a new superintendent.

Current superintendent, Dr. Maryalice Russell, announced her retirement in January 2020. She has been with the district since 2002.

The hiring process began with a community-wide survey and focus groups to gather input from local stakeholders to create an “ideal profile” of the new superintendent. This profile was used in recruitment and selection process, which is being managed by Human Capital Enterprises.

In February, the board reviewed a slate of candidates that had cleared an initial interview and reference check process.

At the March 8 school board meeting, Board Chair Larry Vollmer provided an update on the process and announced that three finalists have been selected.

In mid-March, a stakeholder panel, drawn from the original focus groups, will meet and interview the finalists.

The board expects to announce the new superintendent in late March or early April with an scheduled start date of July 1.
